Then Jesus said to them,“ Why is it said that the Messiah is the son of David?

And there shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots shall bear fruit.And the Spirit of Jehovah shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Jehovah.

Hath not the scripture said that the Christ cometh of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?

Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,saying, What think ye of the Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.He saith unto them, How then doth David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Till I put thine enemies underneath thy feet?If David then calleth him Lord, how is he his son?

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright, the morning star.

then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he shall not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.
