Some of the teachers of the law responded,“ Well said, teacher!”

Some of the teachers of the law replied,“ You have spoken well, teacher!”

Then some of the scribes answered,“ Teacher, you have spoken well.”

“ Well said, Teacher!” remarked some of the teachers of religious law who were standing there.

Some of the scribes answered,“ Teacher, you have spoken well.”

Some of the scribes answered and said,“ Teacher, You have spoken well.”

Then some of the scribes answered and said,“ Teacher, You have spoken well.”

Some of the scribes answered,“ Teacher, You have spoken well.”

Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.

Then some of the experts in the law answered,“ Teacher, you have spoken well!”

Some of the scribes answered,“ Teacher, you speak well.”

And there arose a great clamor: and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ part stood up, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: and what if a spirit hath spoken to him, or an angel?

And one of the scribes came, and heard them questioning together, and knowing that he had answered them well, asked him, What commandment is the first of all?Jesus answered, The first is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God, the Lord is one:and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength.The second is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.And the scribe said unto him, Of a truth, Teacher, thou hast well said that he is one; and there is none other but he:and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is much more than all whole burnt- offerings and sacrifices.And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, gathered themselves together.And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, trying him:Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.This is the great and first commandment.And a second like unto it is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.On these two commandments the whole law hangeth, and the prophets.
