Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus with a question.

The Sadducees do not believe that people rise from the dead. Some of them came to Jesus with a question.

As they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to them,being greatly disturbed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

On that day some Sadducees( who say there is no resurrection) came to Jesus and questioned Him,saying,“ Teacher, Moses said,‘ If a man dies having no children, his brother as next of kin shall marry his wife, and raise up children for his brother.’Now there were seven brothers among us; and the first married and died, and having no children, he left his wife to his brother.It was the same also with the second brother, and the third, down to the seventh.Last of all, the woman died.In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her in marriage.”But Jesus answered and said to them,“ You are mistaken, since you do not understand the Scriptures nor the power of God.For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God:‘ I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at His teaching.

Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?

Some Sadducees( who say that there is no resurrection)* came to Jesus, and began questioning Him, saying,“ Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves behind a wife and does not leave a child, his brother is to marry the wife and raise up children for his brother.There were seven brothers; and the first took a wife, and died leaving no children.The second one married her, and died leaving behind no children; and the third likewise;and so the seven together left no children. Last of all the woman also died.In the resurrection, which one’s wife will she be? For each of the seven had her as his wife.”Jesus said to them,“ Is this not the reason you are mistaken, that you do not understand the Scriptures nor the power of God?For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.But regarding the fact that the dead rise, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the burning bush, how God spoke to him, saying,‘ I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?He is not the God of the dead, but of the living; you are greatly mistaken.”

The Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and putting Jesus to the test, they asked Him to show them a sign from heaven.

But the high priest stood up, along with all his associates( that is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy.

But Paul, perceiving that one group were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, began crying out in the Council,“ Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees; I am on trial for the hope and resurrection of the dead!”When he said this, a dissension occurred between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor an angel, nor a spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.

And Jesus said to them,“ Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,men who have gone astray from the truth, claiming that the resurrection has already taken place; and they are jeopardizing the faith of some.
