耶穌的回答令他們驚奇，他們無法當眾找到把柄，只好閉口不言。

憎惡我的人要在我面前屈膝投降，永遠沉淪。

黎明的時候，眾人從該亞法那裡把耶穌押往總督府，他們自己卻沒有進去，因為怕沾染污穢，不能吃逾越節的晚餐。彼拉多出來問他們：「你們控告這個人什麼罪？」他們回答說：「如果祂沒有為非作歹，我們也不會把祂送到你這裡來。」彼拉多說：「你們把祂帶走，按照你們的律法去審理吧。」猶太人說：「可是我們無權把人處死。」這是要應驗耶穌預言自己會怎樣死的話。

他們貪婪成性，想用花言巧語在你們身上謀利。這種人的刑罰自古已經判定，他們很快就會滅亡。

伺機找把柄陷害祂。

後來，他們派了幾個法利賽人和希律黨人到耶穌那裡，企圖利用祂所說的話設計陷害祂。他們上前對耶穌說：「老師，我們知道你誠實無偽，不看人的情面，因為你不以貌取人，而是按真理傳上帝的道。那麼，向凱撒納稅對不對呢？我們該不該納呢？」耶穌看破他們的陰謀，就說：「你們為什麼試探我呢？拿一個銀幣來給我看。」他們就拿來一個銀幣，耶穌問他們：「上面刻的是誰的像和名號？」他們說：「凱撒的。」耶穌說：「屬於凱撒的東西應該給凱撒，屬於上帝的東西應該給上帝。」他們聽了這話，都很驚奇。

他們說：「來！我們設計對付耶利米吧，反正我們有祭司教導律法，有智者出謀劃策，有先知傳講預言。來吧！我們抨擊他，不要理會他的話。」

惡人窺探義人，伺機謀害。但耶和華不會讓惡人得逞，也不會讓義人在審判時被定罪。

我聽見許多人竊竊私語：「看那個說『四面有恐怖』的人，我們告發他！告發他！」我的好友都盼著我滅亡，說：「或許他會受騙，那樣我們便能打倒他，一泄心頭之恨。」

就派人到提哥亞去召來一個聰明的婦人，對她說：「你假扮哀悼的人，穿上喪服，不要用油抹身，要裝成哀悼很久的婦人，

當時有好些人密切地監視耶穌，看祂是否會在安息日醫治這個人，好找藉口控告祂。

要對上帝說：「你的作為令人敬畏！你的大能使敵人屈膝投降。

殘暴之徒必消失，嘲諷者必絕跡，所有心懷不軌者必被剷除。他們誣陷人，暗算審判官，冤枉無辜。

我好像一隻被牽去宰殺的馴良羊羔，不知他們要謀害我。他們說：「我們把這棵樹連果子一同毀滅，從世上除掉它，使它被遺忘吧！」

耶羅波安就吩咐妻子：「你喬裝改扮使人認不出你是我妻子，然後去示羅找那位預言我做王的先知亞希雅。你要帶十個餅、一些薄餅和一瓶蜂蜜去，他將告訴你孩子的病情會怎樣。」耶羅波安的妻子就照他的話做，前往示羅，來到亞希雅家。那時亞希雅因年紀老邁，眼睛已失明。耶和華預先告訴亞希雅說：「耶羅波安的妻子會喬裝成別的婦女，前來問你有關她兒子的病情，你要如此如此回答她。」她剛進門，亞希雅聽見她的腳步聲就說：「耶羅波安的妻子啊，你進來吧，為什麼喬裝改扮呢？我奉命告訴你一個噩耗。

謀害我的人設下陷阱，想害我的人威脅我，整天圖謀奸計。
