and spoke to Him, saying,“ Tell us, by what authority are You doing these things? Or who is he who gave You this authority?”

問他說：「你告訴我們，你仗着甚麼權柄做這些事？給你這權柄的是誰呢？」

試告我、爾以何權行是、賜爾此權者誰耶、

曰、請告我、爾以何權行此諸事、賜爾此權者誰乎、

『請示吾儕、爾憑何權行此一切？且孰授爾以斯權耶？』

“ Tell us by what authority you are doing these things,” they said.“ Who gave you this authority?”

“ Tell us by what authority you are doing these things,” they all said.“ Who gave you this authority?”

and said to him,“ Tell us by what authority you do these things, or who it is that gave you this authority.”

They demanded,“ By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right?”

and said to him,“ Tell us, by what authority are you doing these things? Who is it who gave you this authority?”

and they declared, saying to Him,“ Tell us by what authority You are doing these things, or who is the one who gave You this authority?”

and they spake, saying unto him, Tell us: By what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?

and said to Him:“ Tell us, by what authority are You doing these things? Who is it who gave You this authority?”

And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?

and said to him,“ Tell us: By what authority are you doing these things? Or who it is who gave you this authority?”

They asked him,“ Tell us: by what authority do you do these things? Or who is giving you this authority?”

So the Jews answered and said to Him,“ What sign do You show to us, since You do these things?”

Now when He came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people confronted Him as He was teaching, and said,“ By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority?”But Jesus answered and said to them,“ I also will ask you one thing, which if you tell Me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things:The baptism of John— where was it from? From heaven or from men?” And they reasoned among themselves, saying,“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ He will say to us,‘ Why then did you not believe him?’But if we say,‘ From men,’ we fear the multitude, for all count John as a prophet.”So they answered Jesus and said,“ We do not know.” And He said to them,“ Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.

And they said to Him,“ By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority to do these things?”But Jesus answered and said to them,“ I also will ask you one question; then answer Me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things:The baptism of John— was it from heaven or from men? But he who did his neighbor wrong pushed him away, saying,‘ Who made you a ruler and a judge over us?

Then he said,“ Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” So Moses feared and said,“ Surely this thing is known!”

And when they had set them in the midst, they asked,“ By what power or by what name have you done this?”Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them,“ Rulers of the people and elders of Israel:If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well,let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.

“ You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.

For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.“ Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.

“ This Moses whom they rejected, saying,‘ Who made you a ruler and a judge?’ is the one God sent to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the Angel who appeared to him in the bush.He brought them out, after he had shown wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.“ This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel,‘ The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear.’“ This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, the one who received the living oracles to give to us,whom our fathers would not obey, but rejected. And in their hearts they turned back to Egypt,

Then they brought him to Jesus. And they threw their own clothes on the colt, and they set Jesus on him.And as He went, many spread their clothes on the road.Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen,saying:“‘ Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd,“ Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”But He answered and said to them,“ I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”

Then He went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it,saying to them,“ It is written,‘ My house is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a‘ den of thieves.’”
