「萬軍之耶和華如此說：『你們要施行真理的審判，各人要以恩慈和憐憫對待自己的兄弟。不要欺壓寡婦、孤兒、寄居者和困苦人，各人不要在心裡向自己的兄弟謀劃惡事。』然而，他們不肯留心聽，竟扭轉頑梗的肩頭，充耳不聞；他們使自己的心硬如金剛石，不聽從律法，不聽從萬軍之耶和華藉著他的靈和先前的眾先知所發出的話語。因此，有極大的震怒從萬軍之耶和華而來。萬軍之耶和華說：『既然我呼喚他們，他們不聽，那麼他們呼喚我，我也不聽。

「耶路撒冷啊，耶路撒冷！這城殺害先知們，又用石頭砸死被差到她這裡的人！我多次想聚集你的兒女，像母雞把自己的小雞聚集在翅膀下，可是你們不願意！

因此，我的弟兄們，你們藉著基督的身體，在律法上也被處死了，使你們歸向另一位，就是從死人中復活的那一位，好讓我們能為神結出果子來。

「你們有禍了！因為你們建造先知的墳墓，而你們的祖先是殺害他們的。因此對你們祖先的行為，你們是見證人，你們也贊同，因為他們殺害了先知們，你們就建造先知的墳墓。為此，神的智慧也曾說：『我將要差派先知和使徒到他們那裡去。有些他們要殺害，有些他們要逼迫。』這是為要向這世代追討那從創世以來所流的眾先知的血，

他像一棵樹，栽種在溪水旁，他的果實按時結出，他的葉子也不凋零，凡他所做的都會興盛。

不是你們揀選了我，而是我揀選了你們，並指派了你們，好使你們去，讓你們結出果子，而且使你們的果子長存。這樣，你們奉我的名無論向父求什麼，他就會賜給你們。

因此你要對我的子民說：『萬軍之耶和華如此說：你們當轉向我！』這是萬軍之耶和華的宣告。『我就轉向你們！』這是萬軍之耶和華說的。耶和華宣告：『你們不要像你們的祖先！先前的眾先知呼喚他們，說：「萬軍之耶和華如此說：現在你們要回轉離開自己邪惡的道路和邪惡的行為！」他們卻不聽從，也不留心聽我的話。你們的祖先，他們在哪裡呢？那些先知，他們會永遠活著嗎？然而我吩咐我僕人眾先知的話語和律例，不都追上了你們的祖先嗎？於是他們回轉，說：萬軍之耶和華照著我們的道路和行為決意怎樣對待我們，他就怎樣對待了我們。』」
