有一天，耶穌在教導人，旁邊坐著來自加利利、猶太和耶路撒冷各地的法利賽人和律法教師，主的能力伴隨著耶穌，使祂能醫治病人。

公會中有一位名叫迦瑪列的法利賽人，是個德高望重的律法教師。他站起來，叫人把使徒暫且押到外面，

約拿在大魚腹中三日三夜，人子也要在地裡三日三夜。

主耶和華賜我教導的能力，使我知道用什麼話幫助疲乏的人。每天早晨，主喚醒我，叫我像受教者那樣側耳聆聽。

羅波安對他們說：「你們先回去，三天之後再來見我。」眾人就離開了。

過了三天，耶羅波安和民眾遵照羅波安王的話來見他。

「總督大人，我們記得那個騙子生前曾說，『三天之後，我必復活』，所以請你命人看守墳墓三天，以防祂的門徒偷走祂的屍體，然後對百姓說祂已經從死裡復活。這樣的迷惑會比以前的更厲害！」

從此以後，耶穌開始清楚地指示門徒，祂必須去耶路撒冷，受長老、祭司長和律法教師許多的迫害，並且被處死，但第三天必從死裡復活。

還以為祂跟在同行的人中間。他們走了一天的路後，才開始在親戚朋友中找祂，結果沒有找到，只好回到耶路撒冷。
