He will not judge by appearance nor make a decision based on hearsay.He will give justice to the poor and make fair decisions for the exploited. The earth will shake at the force of his word, and one breath from his mouth will destroy the wicked.He will wear righteousness like a belt and truth like an undergarment.

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew taller and grew in favor with the Lord and with the people.

As Samuel grew up, the Lord was with him, and everything Samuel said proved to be reliable.

Yet you brought me safely from my mother’s womb and led me to trust you at my mother’s breast.

All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

Who has believed our message? To whom has the Lord revealed his powerful arm?My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot, like a root in dry ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him.

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all.

When her son was born, she named him Samson. And the Lord blessed him as he grew up.

But Samuel, though he was only a boy, served the Lord. He wore a linen garment like that of a priest.

You are the most handsome of all. Gracious words stream from your lips. God himself has blessed you forever.

I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself.In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Timothy, my dear son, be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus.
