So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

So Joseph went also. He went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea. That is where Bethlehem, the town of David, was. Joseph went there because he belonged to the family line of David.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,

And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee.

Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?”

Now the Lord said to Samuel,“ How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons.”

Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.

And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets,“ He shall be called a Nazarene.”

So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

Now behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers,“ The Lord be with you!” And they answered him,“ The Lord bless you!”

And Saul said to him,“ Whose son are you, young man?” So David answered,“ I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.”

Now the two of them went until they came to Bethlehem. And it happened, when they had come to Bethlehem, that all the city was excited because of them; and the women said,“ Is this Naomi?”

So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath( that is, Bethlehem).

Also the neighbor women gave him a name, saying,“ There is a son born to Naomi.” And they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

But as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died beside me in the land of Canaan on the way, when there was but a little distance to go to Ephrath; and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath( that is, Bethlehem).”

If your father misses me at all, then say,‘ David earnestly asked permission of me that he might run over to Bethlehem, his city, for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.’

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem,saying,“ Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.So they said to him,“ In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:‘ But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.’”

So Samuel did what the Lord said, and went to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said,“ Do you come peaceably?”

And Nathanael said to him,“ Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him,“ Come and see.”

And all the people who were at the gate, and the elders, said,“ We are witnesses. The Lord make the woman who is coming to your house like Rachel and Leah, the two who built the house of Israel; and may you prosper in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem.

Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehem Judah, whose name was Jesse, and who had eight sons. And the man was old, advanced in years, in the days of Saul.

Salmon begot Boaz, and Boaz begot Obed;Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David.
