And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem;( because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

So Joseph went also. He went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea. That is where Bethlehem, the town of David, was. Joseph went there because he belonged to the family line of David.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,

And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee.

And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name[ was] Mary.

And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD[ be] with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.

And Saul said to him, Whose son[ art] thou,[ thou] young man? And David answered, I[ am] the son of thy servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.

So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said,[ Is] this Naomi?

And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which[ is] Bethlehem.

And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he[ is] the father of Jesse, the father of David.

And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet[ there was] but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same[ is] Bethlehem.

If thy father at all miss me, then say, David earnestly asked[ leave] of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city: for[ there is] a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.When Herod the king had heard[ these things], he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,And thou Bethlehem,[ in] the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

And Samuel did that which the LORD spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably?

And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

And all the people that[ were] in the gate, and the elders, said,[ We are] witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:

Now David[ was] the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehemjudah, whose name[ was] Jesse; and he had eight sons: and the man went among men[ for] an old man in the days of Saul.

And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
