So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

So Joseph went also. He went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea. That is where Bethlehem, the town of David, was. Joseph went there because he belonged to the family line of David.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,

And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee.

Doesn’t the Scripture say that the Messiah comes from David’s offspring and from the town of Bethlehem, where David lived?”

The LORD said to Samuel,“ How long are you going to mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem because I have selected for myself a king from his sons.”

In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth,to a virgin engaged to a man named Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.

He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. As usual, he entered the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read.

Later, when Boaz arrived from Bethlehem, he said to the harvesters,“ The LORD be with you.”“ The LORD bless you,” they replied.

Saul said to him,“ Whose son are you, young man?”“ The son of your servant Jesse of Bethlehem,” David answered.

The two of them traveled until they came to Bethlehem. When they entered Bethlehem, the whole town was excited about their arrival and the local women exclaimed,“ Can this be Naomi?”

So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath( that is, Bethlehem).

The neighbor women said,“ A son has been born to Naomi,” and they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.

When I was returning from Paddan, to my sorrow Rachel died along the way, some distance from Ephrath in the land of Canaan. I buried her there along the way to Ephrath”( that is, Bethlehem).

If your father misses me at all, say,‘ David urgently requested my permission to go quickly to his hometown, Bethlehem, for an annual sacrifice there involving the whole clan.’

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, wise men from the east arrived in Jerusalem,saying,“ Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star at its rising and have come to worship him.”When King Herod heard this, he was deeply disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.So he assembled all the chief priests and scribes of the people and asked them where the Messiah would be born.“ In Bethlehem of Judea,” they told him,“ because this is what was written by the prophet:And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah: Because out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.”

Samuel did what the LORD directed and went to Bethlehem. When the elders of the town met him, they trembled and asked,“ Do you come in peace?”

“ Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Nathanael asked him.“ Come and see,” Philip answered.

All the people who were at the city gate, including the elders, said,“ We are witnesses. May the LORD make the woman who is entering your house like Rachel and Leah, who together built the house of Israel. May you be powerful in Ephrathah and your name well known in Bethlehem.

Now David was the son of the Ephrathite from Bethlehem of Judah named Jesse. Jesse had eight sons and during Saul’s reign was already an old man.

Salmon fathered Boaz, Boaz fathered Obed,Obed fathered Jesse, and Jesse fathered David.
