只因听见亚基老接着他父亲希律作了犹太王，就怕往那里去，又在梦中被主指示，便往加利利境内去了，到了一座城，名叫拿撒勒，就住在那里。这是要应验先知所说，他将称为拿撒勒人的话了。

满了八天，就给孩子行割礼，与他起名叫耶稣；这就是没有成胎以前，天使所起的名。按摩西律法满了洁净的日子，他们带着孩子上耶路撒冷去，要把他献与主，（正如主的律法上所记：“凡头生的男子必称圣归主。”）又要照主的律法上所说，或用一对斑鸠，或用两只雏鸽献祭。

凡我所吩咐的，你们都要谨守遵行，不可加添，也不可删减。

及至时候满足，神就差遣他的儿子，为女子所生，且生在律法以下，要把律法以下的人赎出来，叫我们得着儿子的名分。

耶稣回答说：“你暂且许我，因为我们理当这样尽诸般的义。”于是约翰许了他。

他就同他们下去，回到拿撒勒，并且顺从他们。他母亲把这一切的事都存在心里。
