So you who believe see his value, but for those who do not believe, the stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,and a stumbling- stone and a rock to trip over. They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.

but we preach about a crucified Christ, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.

The one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, and the one on whom it falls will be crushed.”

Who is wise? Let him discern these things! Who is discerning? Let him understand them! For the ways of the LORD are right; the godly walk in them, but in them the rebellious stumble.

Meanwhile Saul, still breathing out threats to murder the Lord’s disciples, went to the high priestand requested letters from him to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any who belonged to the Way, either men or women, he could bring them as prisoners to Jerusalem.As he was going along, approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him,“ Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”So he said,“ Who are you, Lord?” He replied,“ I am Jesus whom you are persecuting!But stand up and enter the city and you will be told what you must do.”( Now the men who were traveling with him stood there speechless, because they heard the voice but saw no one.)So Saul got up from the ground, but although his eyes were open, he could see nothing. Leading him by the hand, his companions brought him into Damascus.For three days he could not see, and he neither ate nor drank anything.Now there was a disciple in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision,“ Ananias,” and he replied,“ Here I am, Lord.”Then the Lord told him,“ Get up and go to the street called‘ Straight,’ and at Judas’ house look for a man from Tarsus named Saul. For he is praying,and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and place his hands on him so that he may see again.”But Ananias replied,“ Lord, I have heard from many people about this man, how much harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem,and here he has authority from the chief priests to imprison all who call on your name!”But the Lord said to him,“ Go, because this man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before Gentiles and kings and the people of Israel.For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.”So Ananias departed and entered the house, placed his hands on Saul and said,“ Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came here, has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized,and after taking some food, his strength returned. For several days he was with the disciples in Damascus,and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, saying,“ This man is the Son of God.”

He will become a sanctuary, but a stone that makes a person trip, and a rock that makes one stumble– to the two houses of Israel. He will become a trap and a snare to the residents of Jerusalem.Many will stumble over the stone and the rock, and will fall and be seriously injured, and will be ensnared and captured.”

The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say,‘ Look at him, a glutton and a drunk, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”

Then Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them and descended from making the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offering.Moses and Aaron then entered into the Meeting Tent. When they came out, they blessed the people, and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people.

For we have found this man to be a troublemaker, one who stirs up riots among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us,keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set out for him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.Think of him who endured such opposition against himself by sinners, so that you may not grow weary in your souls and give up.

The kings of the earth stood together, and the rulers assembled together, against the Lord and against his Christ.’

Now without dispute the inferior is blessed by the superior,

For this reason the Jewish leaders were trying even harder to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was also calling God his own Father, thus making himself equal with God.

But we would like to hear from you what you think, for regarding this sect we know that people everywhere speak against it.”

and said,“ Sir, we remember that while that deceiver was still alive he said,‘ After three days I will rise again.’

Certainly zeal for your house consumes me; I endure the insults of those who insult you.I weep and refrain from eating food, which causes others to insult me.I wear sackcloth and they ridicule me.Those who sit at the city gate gossip about me; drunkards mock me in their songs.

For we are a sweet aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing–to the latter an odor from death to death, but to the former a fragrance from life to life. And who is adequate for these things?

Therefore let all the house of Israel know beyond a doubt that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ.”Now when they heard this, they were acutely distressed and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,“ What should we do, brothers?”Peter said to them,“ Repent, and each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”With many other words he testified and exhorted them saying,“ Save yourselves from this perverse generation!”So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added.

The word of God continued to spread, the number of disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly, and a large group of priests became obedient to the faith.

While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, his mother and brothers came and stood outside, asking to speak to him.

Moses inspected all the work– and they had done it just as the LORD had commanded– they had done it exactly– and Moses blessed them.

He blessed Abram, saying,“ Blessed be Abram by the Most High God, Creator of heaven and earth.

and saying,“ You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are God’s Son, come down from the cross!”In the same way even the chief priests– together with the experts in the law and elders– were mocking him:“ He saved others, but he cannot save himself! He is the king of Israel! If he comes down now from the cross, we will believe in him!He trusts in God– let God, if he wants to, deliver him now because he said,‘ I am God’s Son’!”The robbers who were crucified with him also spoke abusively to him.Now from noon until three, darkness came over all the land.

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory, who is the Spirit of God, rests on you.

For everyone who does evil deeds hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds will not be exposed.

Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but( as if it were possible) by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone,

When they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city officials, screaming,“ These people who have stirred up trouble throughout the world have come here too,

The Judeans replied,“ Aren’t we correct in saying that you are a Samaritan and are possessed by a demon?”Jesus answered,“ I am not possessed by a demon, but I honor my Father– and yet you dishonor me.I am not trying to get praise for myself. There is one who demands it, and he also judges.I tell you the solemn truth, if anyone obeys my teaching, he will never see death.”Then the Judeans responded,“ Now we know you’re possessed by a demon! Both Abraham and the prophets died, and yet you say,‘ If anyone obeys my teaching, he will never experience death.’

Then they summoned the man who used to be blind a second time and said to him,“ Promise before God to tell the truth. We know that this man is a sinner.”He replied,“ I do not know whether he is a sinner. I do know one thing– that although I was blind, now I can see.”Then they said to him,“ What did he do to you? How did he cause you to see?”He answered,“ I told you already and you didn’t listen. Why do you want to hear it again? You people don’t want to become his disciples too, do you?”They heaped insults on him, saying,“ You are his disciple! We are disciples of Moses!We know that God has spoken to Moses! We do not know where this man comes from!”

Then the high priest tore his clothes and declared,“ He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? Now you have heard the blasphemy!What is your verdict?” They answered,“ He is guilty and deserves death.”Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists. And some slapped him,

Now this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, met Abraham as he was returning from defeating the kings and blessed him.

You killed the Originator of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this fact we are witnesses!And on the basis of faith in Jesus’ name, his very name has made this man– whom you see and know– strong. The faith that is through Jesus has given him this complete health in the presence of you all.And now, brothers, I know you acted in ignorance, as your rulers did too.But the things God foretold long ago through all the prophets– that his Christ would suffer– he has fulfilled in this way.Therefore repent and turn back so that your sins may be wiped out,

Look, I and the sons whom the LORD has given me are reminders and object lessons in Israel, sent from the LORD who commands armies, who lives on Mount Zion.

Then Joseph brought in his father Jacob and presented him before Pharaoh. Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy, and they began to contradict what Paul was saying by reviling him.

But I am a worm, not a man; people insult me and despise me.All who see me taunt me; they mock me and shake their heads.They say,“ Commit yourself to the LORD! Let the LORD rescue him! Let the LORD deliver him, for he delights in him.”
