So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe,“ The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,”and“ A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.

but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,

And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.”

Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the Lord are right, and the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.

But Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priestand asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him.And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him,“ Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”And he said,“ Who are you, Lord?” And he said,“ I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.But rise and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.”The men who were traveling with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one.Saul rose from the ground, and although his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. So they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus.And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank.Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision,“ Ananias.” And he said,“ Here I am, Lord.”And the Lord said to him,“ Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying,and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.”But Ananias answered,“ Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem.And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.”But the Lord said to him,“ Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.”So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said,“ Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized;and taking food, he was strengthened. For some days he was with the disciples at Damascus.And immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying,“ He is the Son of God.”

And he will become a sanctuary and a stone of offense and a rock of stumbling to both houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.And many shall stumble on it. They shall fall and be broken; they shall be snared and taken.”

The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say,‘ Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.”

Then Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them, and he came down from offering the sin offering and the burnt offering and the peace offerings.And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting, and when they came out they blessed the people, and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people.

For we have found this man a plague, one who stirs up riots among all the Jews throughout the world and is a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed’—

It is beyond dispute that the inferior is blessed by the superior.

This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

But we desire to hear from you what your views are, for with regard to this sect we know that everywhere it is spoken against.”

For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing,to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?

Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,“ Brothers, what shall we do?”And Peter said to them,“ Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying,“ Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.

And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.

While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him.

And Moses saw all the work, and behold, they had done it; as the Lord had commanded, so had they done it. Then Moses blessed them.

And he blessed him and said,“ Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;

and saying,“ You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying,“ He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said,‘ I am the Son of God.’”And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way.Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.

Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone,

And when they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city authorities, shouting,“ These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also,

Do you also want to become his disciples?”And they reviled him, saying,“ You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where he comes from.”

Then the high priest tore his robes and said,“ He has uttered blasphemy. What further witnesses do we need? You have now heard his blasphemy.What is your judgment?” They answered,“ He deserves death.”Then they spit in his face and struck him. And some slapped him,

For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.And his name— by faith in his name— has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.“ And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers.But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled.Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,

Behold, I and the children whom the Lord has given me are signs and portents in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.
