When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name.“ Zacchaeus!” he said.“ Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.”

“ How do you know about me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus replied,“ I could see you under the fig tree before Philip found you.”

“ But I came by and saw you there, helplessly kicking about in your own blood. As you lay there, I said,‘ Live!’

Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her,“ Please give me a drink.”He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food.The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus,“ You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?”Jesus replied,“ If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

That evening the two angels came to the entrance of the city of Sodom. Lot was sitting there, and when he saw them, he stood up to meet them. Then he welcomed them and bowed with his face to the ground.“ My lords,” he said,“ come to my home to wash your feet, and be my guests for the night. You may then get up early in the morning and be on your way again.”“ Oh no,” they replied.“ We’ll just spend the night out here in the city square.”But Lot insisted, so at last they went home with him. Lot prepared a feast for them, complete with fresh bread made without yeast, and they ate.

“ My lord,” he said,“ if it pleases you, stop here for a while.Rest in the shade of this tree while water is brought to wash your feet.And since you’ve honored your servant with this visit, let me prepare some food to refresh you before you continue on your journey.”“ All right,” they said.“ Do as you have said.”

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.

Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!

For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.

As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.

Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.

I will be careful to live a blameless life— when will you come to help me? I will lead a life of integrity in my own home.I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar. I hate all who deal crookedly; I will have nothing to do with them.
