Jesus reached the spot where Zacchaeus was. He looked up and said,“ Zacchaeus, come down at once. I must stay at your house today.”

And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him,“ Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.”

When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name.“ Zacchaeus!” he said.“ Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.”

“ How do you know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus answered,“ I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”

“‘ Then I passed by and saw you kicking about in your blood, and as you lay there in your blood I said to you,“ Live!”

When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her,“ Will you give me a drink?”( His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)The Samaritan woman said to him,“ You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?”( For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)Jesus answered her,“ If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground.“ My lords,” he said,“ please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.”“ No,” they answered,“ we will spend the night in the square.”But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate.

He said,“ If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by.Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree.Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way— now that you have come to your servant.”“ Very well,” they answered,“ do as you say.”

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,

As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

I will be careful to lead a blameless life— when will you come to me? I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart.I will not look with approval on anything that is vile. I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it.
