Jesus was teaching daily in the temple courts. The chief priests and the experts in the law and the prominent leaders among the people were seeking to assassinate him,

耶穌日在殿訓誨、祭司諸長、士子、與民間尊長、尋機滅之、

耶穌日在殿教誨、祭司諸長、士子、與民之尊者、欲殺之、

耶穌日日在聖殿教誨、祭司諸長經士與民間貴顯者、欲殺之、

耶穌日訓殿中、而司祭長經生及諸紳正謀所以置諸死地、苦無良策；蓋民皆樂聆其訓、為之神往。

Every day he was teaching at the temple. But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him.

After that, he taught daily in the Temple, but the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the other leaders of the people began planning how to kill him.

Every day He was teaching in the temple complex. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people were looking for a way to destroy Him,

At that moment Jesus said to the crowd,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest me like you would an outlaw? Day after day I sat teaching in the temple courts, yet you did not arrest me.

The chief priests and the experts in the law heard it and they considered how they could assassinate him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed by his teaching.

They came again to Jerusalem. While Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the experts in the law, and the elders came up to himand said,“ By what authority are you doing these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?”Jesus said to them,“ I will ask you one question. Answer me and I will tell you by what authority I do these things:John’s baptism– was it from heaven or from people? Answer me.”They discussed with one another, saying,“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ he will say,‘ Then why did you not believe him?’But if we say,‘ From people–’”( they feared the crowd, for they all considered John to be truly a prophet).So they answered Jesus,“ We don’t know.” Then Jesus said to them,“ Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”

So every day Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, but at night he went and stayed on the Mount of Olives.And all the people came to him early in the morning to listen to him in the temple courts.

Two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the chief priests and the experts in the law were trying to find a way to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.

Jesus replied,“ I have spoken publicly to the world. I always taught in the synagogues and in the temple courts, where all the Jewish people assemble together. I have said nothing in secret.

Then the chief priests and the elders of the people met together in the palace of the high priest, who was named Caiaphas.They planned to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.

Hasn’t Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law! Why do you want to kill me?”

Now they wanted to arrest him( but they feared the crowd), because they realized that he told this parable against them. So they left him and went away.

Then they attempted again to seize him, but he escaped their clutches.

Some of them were wanting to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him.

So from that day they planned together to kill him.Thus Jesus no longer went around publicly among the Judeans, but went away from there to the region near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim, and stayed there with his disciples.Now the Jewish Feast of Passover was near, and many people went up to Jerusalem from the rural areas before the Passover to cleanse themselves ritually.Thus they were looking for Jesus, and saying to one another as they stood in the temple courts,“ What do you think? That he won’t come to the feast?”( Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that anyone who knew where Jesus was should report it, so that they could arrest him.)

I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. But you want to kill me, because my teaching makes no progress among you.I am telling you the things I have seen while with the Father; as for you, practice the things you have heard from the Father!”They answered him,“ Abraham is our father!” Jesus replied,“ If you are Abraham’s children, you would be doing the deeds of Abraham.But now you are trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth I heard from God. Abraham did not do this!

Now after Jesus entered the temple courts, the chief priests and elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching and said,“ By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?”
