那时，耶稣对众人说：“你们像对付强盗一样拿着刀棍来抓我吗？我天天在圣殿里教导人，你们并没有来抓我。

祭司长和律法教师听到这番话后，就策划如何杀害耶稣，只是有些怕祂，因为百姓都对祂的教导感到惊奇。

他们再次回到耶路撒冷。耶稣在圣殿里行走的时候，祭司长、律法教师和长老上前质问祂：“你凭什么权柄做这些事？谁授权给你了？”耶稣说：“我也要问你们一个问题，你们回答了，我就告诉你们我凭什么权柄做这些事。约翰的洗礼是从天上来的还是从人来的？请回答我！”他们彼此议论说：“如果我们说‘是从天上来的’，祂一定会问，‘那你们为什么不信他？’如果我们说‘是从人来的’，又怕触怒百姓，因为他们都相信约翰真的是先知。”于是，他们回答说：“我们不知道。”耶稣说：“我也不告诉你们我凭什么权柄做这些事。”

耶稣每天在圣殿里讲道，晚上则到城外的橄榄山上过夜。百姓一早都赶去圣殿听祂的教导。

再过两天就是逾越节和除酵节，祭司长和律法教师正暗暗地找机会拘捕、杀害耶稣。

耶稣说：“我是公开对世人讲的，我常在犹太人聚集的会堂和圣殿教导人，没有在背地里讲过什么。

那时，祭司长和民间的长老正聚集在大祭司该亚法的府里，策划逮捕、杀害耶稣。

摩西不是把律法传给了你们吗？你们却没有一个人遵守。为什么想要杀我呢？”

他们听出这比喻是针对他们说的，就想逮捕耶稣，但又害怕百姓，只好先离开了。

他们又要抓耶稣，但祂从他们手中逃脱了。

有些人想抓祂，只是没有人下手。

从那天起，他们就计划要杀害耶稣，所以耶稣不再公开地在犹太人中间露面。祂离开伯大尼，前往靠近旷野的地方，到了以法莲城，就和门徒住下来。犹太人的逾越节快到了，有很多人从乡下上耶路撒冷，预备在过节前洁净自己。他们四处寻找耶稣，又彼此在圣殿里谈论：“你们怎么想？祂不会来过节吧？”当时祭司长和法利赛人早已下令，如果有人知道耶稣在哪里，就来报告，他们好去抓祂。

“我知道你们是亚伯拉罕的子孙，但你们却想杀我，因为你们心里容不下我的道。我所说的，是我从父那里看到的，你们却照着你们父的话去做。”他们说：“我们的父就是亚伯拉罕！”耶稣说：“你们如果真是亚伯拉罕的子孙，一定会做他所做的事。我把从上帝那里听到的真理告诉你们，你们反要杀我，亚伯拉罕绝不做这样的事。

耶稣进了圣殿，正在教导人的时候，祭司长和民间的长老来质问祂：“你凭什么权柄做这些事？谁授权给你了？”
