And Jesus saith unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

And every day he was teaching in the temple; and every night he went out, and lodged in the mount that is called Olivet.And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, to hear him.

Now after two days was the feast of the passover and the unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him with subtlety, and kill him:

Jesus answered him, I have spoken openly to the world; I ever taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where all the Jews come together; and in secret spake I nothing.

Then were gathered together the chief priests, and the elders of the people, unto the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas;and they took counsel together that they might take Jesus by subtlety, and kill him.

Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you doeth the law? Why seek ye to kill me?

And they sought to lay hold on him; and they feared the multitude; for they perceived that he spake the parable against them: and they left him, and went away.

That he will not come to the feast?Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given commandment, that, if any man knew where he was, he should show it, that they might take him.

I know that ye are Abraham’s seed, yet ye seek to kill me, because my word hath not free course in you.I speak the things which I have seen with my Father: and ye also do the things which ye heard from your father.They answered and said unto him, Our father is Abraham. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham.But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I heard from God: this did not Abraham.

And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?
