蓋天主所授於吾人者、絕非畏首畏尾、因循苟且之精神、乃剛毅仁愛、刻苦自勵之精神也。

愛德之中、不含憂懼、愛德純熟、憂懼自消。心懷憂懼、鰓鰓畏刑、坐愛德未熟之故耳。

蓋爾所受者、非畏首畏尾之奴隸情緒；爾所受者、乃為呼爺喚父之兒女精神也。
