Therefore He said:“ A nobleman traveled to a far country to receive for himself authority to be king and then return.

『昔有貴人適遐方、將受國而歸、

He said:“ A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointed king and then to return.

Jesus said,“ A man from an important family went to a country far away. He went there to be made king and then return home.

He said therefore,“ A nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return.

He said,“ A nobleman was called away to a distant empire to be crowned king and then return.

Therefore he said,“ A nobleman traveled to a far country to receive for himself authority to be king and then to return.

So He said,“ A nobleman went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and then to return.

Therefore He said:“ A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.

He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

Therefore he said,“ A nobleman went to a distant country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return.

“ For it is just like a man going on a journey. He called his own slaves and turned over his possessions to them.To one he gave five talents; to another, two; and to another, one— to each according to his own ability. Then he went on a journey. Immediatelythe man who had received five talents went, put them to work, and earned five more.In the same way the man with two earned two more.But the man who had received one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground, and hid his master’s money.“ After a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them.The man who had received five talents approached, presented five more talents, and said,‘ Master, you gave me five talents. Look, I’ve earned five more talents.’“ His master said to him,‘ Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy!’“ Then the man with two talents also approached. He said,‘ Master, you gave me two talents. Look, I’ve earned two more talents.’“ His master said to him,‘ Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy!’“ Then the man who had received one talent also approached and said,‘ Master, I know you. You’re a difficult man, reaping where you haven’t sown and gathering where you haven’t scattered seed.So I was afraid and went off and hid your talent in the ground. Look, you have what is yours.’“ But his master replied to him,‘ You evil, lazy slave! If you knew that I reap where I haven’t sown and gather where I haven’t scattered,then you should have deposited my money with the bankers. And when I returned I would have received my money back with interest.“‘ So take the talent from him and give it to the one who has 10 talents.For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have more than enough. But from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.And throw this good-for-nothing slave into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.

Therefore He said:“ A nobleman traveled to a far country to receive for himself authority to be king and then return.He called 10 of his slaves, gave them 10 minas, and told them,‘ Engage in business until I come back.’“ But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying,‘ We don’t want this man to rule over us!’“ At his return, having received the authority to be king, he summoned those slaves he had given the money to, so he could find out how much they had made in business.The first came forward and said,‘ Master, your mina has earned 10 more minas.’“‘ Well done, good slave!’ he told him.‘ Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, have authority over 10 towns.’“ The second came and said,‘ Master, your mina has made five minas.’“ So he said to him,‘ You will be over five towns.’“ And another came and said,‘ Master, here is your mina. I have kept it hidden away in a clothbecause I was afraid of you, for you’re a tough man: you collect what you didn’t deposit and reap what you didn’t sow.’“ He told him,‘ I will judge you by what you have said, you evil slave! If you knew I was a tough man, collecting what I didn’t deposit and reaping what I didn’t sow,why didn’t you put my money in the bank? And when I returned, I would have collected it with interest!’So he said to those standing there,‘ Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has 10 minas.’“ But they said to him,‘ Master, he has 10 minas.’“‘ I tell you, that to everyone who has, more will be given; and from the one who does not have, even what he does have will be taken away.But bring here these enemies of mine, who did not want me to rule over them, and slaughter them in my presence.’”

Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, including those who pierced Him. And all the families of the earth will mourn over Him. This is certain. Amen.

Now that He has gone into heaven, He is at God’s right hand with angels, authorities, and powers subject to Him.

For He must reign until He puts all His enemies under His feet.

For this reason God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name,so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow— of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth—and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

After He had said this, He was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took Him out of their sight.While He was going, they were gazing into heaven, and suddenly two men in white clothes stood by them.They said,“ Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen Him going into heaven.”

Then He began to speak to them in parables:“ A man planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug out a pit for a winepress, and built a watchtower. Then he leased it to tenant farmers and went away.

He demonstrated this power in the Messiah by raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His right hand in the heavens—far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given, not only in this age but also in the one to come.And He put everything under His feet and appointed Him as head over everything for the church,which is His body, the fullness of the One who fills all things in every way.

Then after speaking to them, the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.

Then He began to tell the people this parable:“ A man planted a vineyard, leased it to tenant farmers, and went away for a long time.

Then Jesus came near and said to them,“ All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

And while He was blessing them, He left them and was carried up into heaven.

It is like a man on a journey, who left his house, gave authority to his slaves, gave each one his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to be alert.Therefore be alert, since you don’t know when the master of the house is coming— whether in the evening or at midnight or at the crowing of the rooster or early in the morning.Otherwise, he might come suddenly and find you sleeping.And what I say to you, I say to everyone: Be alert!”

“ You are a king then?” Pilate asked.“ You say that I’m a king,” Jesus replied.“ I was born for this, and I have come into the world for this: to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to My voice.”

“ But when the tenant farmers saw the son, they said among themselves,‘ This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance!’

because He has set a day when He is going to judge the world in righteousness by the Man He has appointed. He has provided proof of this to everyone by raising Him from the dead.”
