前行者、斥勿喧。渠愈益大聲疾呼曰：『大維子、其垂憐焉！』

Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Those who led the way commanded him to stop. They told him to be quiet. But he shouted even louder,“ Son of David! Have mercy on me!”

And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then those in front told him to keep quiet, but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Those who led the way were sternly telling him to be quiet; but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

And they that went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried out the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

Then those in front told him to keep quiet, but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

And those who were in front scolded him to get him to be quiet, but he shouted even more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then the man said,“ Let me go, for the dawn is breaking!” But Jacob said,“ I will not let you go unless you bless me.”“ What is your name?” the man asked. He replied,“ Jacob.”“ Your name will no longer be Jacob,” the man told him.“ From now on you will be called Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have won.”

One day some parents brought their little children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But when the disciples saw this, they scolded the parents for bothering him.

In those days when you pray, I will listen.If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

But I tell you this— though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.“ And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said,“ Teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that!”

“ What sorrow awaits you experts in religious law! For you remove the key to knowledge from the people. You don’t enter the Kingdom yourselves, and you prevent others from entering.”

So he began shouting,“ Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

While he was still speaking to her, a messenger arrived from the home of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue. He told him,“ Your daughter is dead. There’s no use troubling the Teacher now.”

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.

O Lord, I am calling to you. Please hurry! Listen when I cry to you for help!

Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter,“ Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour?Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!”Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed,“ My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done.”When he returned to them again, he found them sleeping, for they couldn’t keep their eyes open.So he went to pray a third time, saying the same things again.

Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away.

“ Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
