前行者、斥勿喧。渠愈益大聲疾呼曰：『大維子、其垂憐焉！』

Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Those who led the way commanded him to stop. They told him to be quiet. But he shouted even louder,“ Son of David! Have mercy on me!”

And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

“ Be quiet!” the people in front yelled at him. But he only shouted louder,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then those in front told him to keep quiet, but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Those who led the way were sternly telling him to be quiet; but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

And they that went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried out the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

Then those in front told him to keep quiet, but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then the man said,“ Let me go, for the dawn is breaking.”“ I will not let you go,” Jacob replied,“ unless you bless me.”The man asked him,“ What is your name?” He answered,“ Jacob.”“ No longer will your name be Jacob,” the man told him,“ but Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have prevailed.”

Now people were even bringing their babies to him for him to touch. But when the disciples saw it, they began to scold those who brought them.

When you call out to me and come to me in prayer, I will hear your prayers.When you seek me in prayer and worship, you will find me available to you. If you seek me with all your heart and soul,

I tell you, even though the man inside will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of the first man’s sheer persistence he will get up and give him whatever he needs.“ So I tell you: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

But some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him,“ Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”

Woe to you experts in religious law! You have taken away the key to knowledge! You did not go in yourselves, and you hindered those who were going in.”

So he called out,“ Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

While he was still speaking, someone from the synagogue ruler’s house came and said,“ Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the teacher any longer.”

Then Jesus told them a parable to show them they should always pray and not lose heart.

O LORD, I cry out to you. Come quickly to me! Pay attention to me when I cry out to you!

Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He said to Peter,“ So, couldn’t you stay awake with me for one hour?Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”He went away a second time and prayed,“ My Father, if this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will must be done.”He came again and found them sleeping; they could not keep their eyes open.So leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same thing once more.

I asked the Lord three times about this, that it would depart from me.

“ Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you.
