前行者、斥勿喧。渠愈益大聲疾呼曰：『大維子、其垂憐焉！』

Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Those who led the way commanded him to stop. They told him to be quiet. But he shouted even louder,“ Son of David! Have mercy on me!”

And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

“ Be quiet!” the people in front yelled at him. But he only shouted louder,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Those who led the way were sternly telling him to be quiet; but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

And they that went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried out the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

Then those in front told him to keep quiet, but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

And those who were in front scolded him to get him to be quiet, but he shouted even more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Those who led the way rebuked him, that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more,“ You son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then he said to Jacob,“ Let me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob said,“ I will not let you go unless you bless me.”“ What is your name?” the man asked.“ Jacob,” he replied.“ Your name will no longer be Jacob,” he said.“ It will be Israel because you have struggled with God and with men and have prevailed.”

People were bringing infants to him so that he might touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

You will call to me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.

I tell you, even though he won’t get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his friend’s shameless boldness, he will get up and give him as much as he needs.“ So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Some of the Pharisees from the crowd told him,“ Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”

“ Woe to you experts in the law! You have taken away the key to knowledge. You didn’t go in yourselves, and you hindered those who were trying to go in.”

So he called out,“ Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

While he was still speaking, someone came from the synagogue leader’s house and said,“ Your daughter is dead. Don’t bother the teacher anymore.”

Now he told them a parable on the need for them to pray always and not give up.

LORD, I call on you; hurry to help me. Listen to my voice when I call on you.

Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He asked Peter,“ So, couldn’t you stay awake with me one hour?Stay awake and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”Again, a second time, he went away and prayed,“ My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.”And he came again and found them sleeping, because they could not keep their eyes open.After leaving them, he went away again and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more.

Concerning this, I pleaded with the Lord three times that it would leave me.

“ Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you.
