耶稣说：“我实在告诉你们，到万物更新、人子坐在祂荣耀的宝座上时，你们这些跟从我的人也要坐在十二个宝座上，审判以色列的十二个支派。无论谁为我的名而撇下房屋、弟兄、姊妹、父母、儿女或田地，都要得到百倍的赏赐，而且承受永生。然而，许多为首的将要殿后，殿后的将要为首。”

“若有人要跟从我，就要爱我胜过爱他的父母、妻子、儿女、弟兄、姊妹，甚至自己的生命，否则就不能做我的门徒。若不背起自己的十字架跟从我，就不能做我的门徒。“哪有人建楼房不事先坐下来计算成本，看能否建成？

“爱父母过于爱我的人不配做我的门徒；爱儿女过于爱我的人不配做我的门徒；不肯背起他的十字架跟从我的人不配做我的门徒。试图保全自己生命的反而会失去生命，但为我舍弃生命的反而会得到生命。

为了听从你的话，遵守你的约，他们不畏冒犯父母，舍弃弟兄，抛下儿女。
