“ But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said,‘ God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

“ But the tax collector stood farther away than the Pharisee. He would not even look up to heaven. He brought his hand to his heart and prayed. He said,‘ God, have mercy on me. I am a sinner.’

But the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying, God, be thou merciful to me a sinner.

“ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even raise his eyes to heaven but kept striking his chest and saying,‘ God, turn Your wrath from me— a sinner!’

And I said:“ O my God, I am too ashamed and humiliated to lift up my face to You, my God; for our iniquities have risen higher than our heads, and our guilt has grown up to the heavens.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

And the whole crowd who came together to that sight, seeing what had been done, beat their breasts and returned.

Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,“ Men and brethren, what shall we do?”

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

So I said:“ Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.”

You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways. You are indeed angry, for we have sinned— In these ways we continue; And we need to be saved.But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

I said,“ Lord, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.”

But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.Oh, turn to me, and have mercy on me! Give Your strength to Your servant, And save the son of Your maidservant.

Then Jesus went with them. But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying,“ Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.”Then he said to Jesus,“ Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”And Jesus said to him,“ Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying,“ Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”

that you may remember and be ashamed, and never open your mouth anymore because of your shame, when I provide you an atonement for all you have done,” says the Lord God.’”

“ Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord,“ Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.

Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions.Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me.

For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

For innumerable evils have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; They are more than the hairs of my head; Therefore my heart fails me.

And he did not humble himself before the Lord, as his father Manasseh had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more.

Let Your mercies come also to me, O Lord— Your salvation according to Your word.

But go and learn what this means:‘ I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

We have sinned with our fathers, We have committed iniquity, We have done wickedly.

O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is mercy, And with Him is abundant redemption.

If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared.

O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day— to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, those near and those far off in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of the unfaithfulness which they have committed against You.“ O Lord, to us belongs shame of face, to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, because we have sinned against You.To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him.We have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in His laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets.Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, and has departed so as not to obey Your voice; therefore the curse and the oath written in the Law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against Him.

Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off.
