and I said,“ My God, I am ashamed and humiliated to lift up my face to You, my God, for our wrongful deeds have risen above our heads, and our guilt has grown even to the heavens.

If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost.

And all the crowds who came together for this spectacle, after watching what had happened, began to return home, beating their chests.

Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,“ Brothers, what are we to do?”

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Then I said,“ Woe to me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of armies.”

You meet him who rejoices in doing righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways. Behold, You were angry, for we sinned, We continued in our sins for a long time; Yet shall we be saved?For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our wrongdoings, like the wind, take us away.

Therefore let’s approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need.

As for me, I said,“ Lord, be gracious to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.”

But You, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, Slow to anger and abundant in mercy and truth.Turn to me, and be gracious to me; Grant Your strength to Your servant, And save the son of Your maidservant.

Now Jesus started on His way with them; but already, when He was not yet far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to Him,“ Lord, do not trouble Yourself further, for I am not worthy for You to enter under my roof;for that reason I did not even consider myself worthy to come to You; but just say the word, and my servant shall be healed.

But the other responded, and rebuking him, said,“ Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our crimes; but this man has done nothing wrong.”And he was saying,“ Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!”And He said to him,“ Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

But when Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying,“ Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!”

so that you may remember and be ashamed, and not open your mouth again because of your disgrace, when I have forgiven you for all that you have done,” the Lord God declares.

“ Come now, and let us debate your case,” Says the Lord,“ Though your sins are as scarlet, They shall become as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be like wool.

Be gracious to me, God, according to Your faithfulness; According to the greatness of Your compassion, wipe out my wrongdoings.Wash me thoroughly from my guilt And cleanse me from my sin.For I know my wrongdoings, And my sin is constantly before me.

For behold what earnestness this very thing, this godly sorrow, has produced in you: what vindication of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what punishment of wrong! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be innocent in the matter.

For evils beyond number have surrounded me; My guilty deeds have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see; They are more numerous than the hairs of my head, And my heart has failed me.

Furthermore, he did not humble himself before the Lord as his father Manasseh had done, but Amon multiplied his guilt.

May Your favor also come to me, Lord, Your salvation according to Your word;

My God, incline Your ear and hear! Now go and learn what this means:‘ I desire compassion, rather than sacrifice,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

We have sinned like our fathers, We have gone astray, we have behaved wickedly.

Israel, wait for the Lord; For with the Lord there is mercy, And with Him is abundant redemption.

If You, Lord, were to keep account of guilty deeds, Lord, who could stand?But there is forgiveness with You, So that You may be revered.

“ Righteousness belongs to You, Lord, but to us open shame, as it is this day— to the men of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and all Israel, those who are nearby and those who are far away in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of their unfaithful deeds which they have committed against You.Open shame belongs to us, Lord, to our kings, our leaders, and our fathers, because we have sinned against You.To the Lord our God belong compassion and forgiveness, because we have rebelled against Him;and we have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in His teachings which He set before us through His servants the prophets.Indeed, all Israel has violated Your Law and turned aside, not obeying Your voice; so the curse has gushed forth on us, along with the oath which is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against Him.

And as He entered a village, ten men with leprosy who stood at a distance met Him;
