But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier[ matters] of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.[ Ye] blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

[ Ye] hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with[ their] lips; but their heart is far from me.But in vain they do worship me, teaching[ for] doctrines the commandments of men.

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh[ month], even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me,[ even] to me?And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat[ for yourselves], and drink[ for yourselves]?

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites[ are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Where[ is] boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer[ as] an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

And he said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot.

For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed[ be] thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD.
