The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this:‘ God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of men, extortionists, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed:‘ God, I thank you that I am not like other people— robbers, evildoers, adulterers— or even like this tax collector.

But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.For he who said,“ Do not commit adultery,” also said,“ Do not commit murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.So speak and so do, as men who are to be judged by a law of freedom.

Because you say,‘ I am rich, and have gotten riches, and have need of nothing;’ and don’t know that you are the wretched one, miserable, poor, blind, and naked;

“ Yet you said,‘ I am innocent. Surely his anger has turned away from me.’“ Behold, I will judge you, because you say,‘ I have not sinned.’

who say,‘ Stay by yourself, don’t come near to me, for I am holier than you.’ These are smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all day.

Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways. As a nation that did righteousness, and didn’t forsake the ordinance of their God, they ask of me righteous judgments. They delight to draw near to God.

Look! Praise Yahweh, all you servants of Yahweh, who stand by night in Yahweh’s house!

For who makes you different? And what do you have that you didn’t receive? But if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?You are already filled. You have already become rich. You have come to reign without us. Yes, and I wish that you did reign, that we also might reign with you.

When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

you who stand in Yahweh’s house, in the courts of our God’s house.

They come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear your words, but don’t do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their gain.

But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his baptism, he said to them,“ You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?Therefore produce fruit worthy of repentance!Don’t think to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham for our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.“ Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.

who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these will receive greater condemnation.”

For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written,“ Cursed is everyone who doesn’t continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them.”

For I am the least of the apostles, who is not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the assembly of God.But by the grace of God I am what I am. His grace which was given to me was not futile, but I worked more than all of them; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

Her leaders judge for bribes, and her priests teach for a price, and her prophets of it tell fortunes for money: yet they lean on Yahweh, and say,“ Isn’t Yahweh among us? No disaster will come on us.”

He said to him,“ Which ones?” Jesus said,“‘ You shall not murder.’‘ You shall not commit adultery.’‘ You shall not steal.’‘ You shall not offer false testimony.’‘ Honor your father and your mother.’ And,‘ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”The young man said to him,“ All these things I have observed from my youth. What do I still lack?”

concerning zeal, persecuting the assembly; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless.
