一天，在下午三点祷告的时间，彼得和约翰去圣殿。

“回去告诉我子民的首领希西迦，‘你祖先大卫的上帝耶和华说，我已听见你的祷告，看见了你的眼泪。我要医治你，三天后你就可以上耶和华的殿。

希西迦问以赛亚：“有什么兆头证明耶和华要医治我，三天后我可以上耶和华的殿呢？”

众百姓和税吏听了这番话，都承认上帝是公义的，因为他们接受了约翰的洗礼。但那些法利赛人和律法教师没有接受约翰的洗礼，拒绝了上帝为他们所定的旨意。

并对他们说：“圣经上说，‘我的殿要成为祷告的殿’，你们竟把它变成了贼窝。”

他们认识我很久了，如果他们肯作证的话，他们可以证明我从小就属于犹太教中最严格的法利赛派。

你仆人和你的以色列子民向这地方祈祷的时候，求你从你天上的居所垂听，赦免我们的罪。

保罗发现他们一些是法利赛人，一些是撒都该人，就在公会中高声说：“弟兄们，我是法利赛人，也是法利赛人的子孙。我因为盼望死人复活，才在这里受审！”这句话立刻引起法利赛人和撒都该人之间的争论，公会分成了两派。因为撒都该人认为没有复活，也没有天使和灵，而法利赛人认为这些都有。

我出生后第八天就受了割礼，我是以色列人，属于便雅悯支派，是地地道道的希伯来人。论守律法，我是法利赛人；

他们按照祭司的规矩抽签，抽中撒迦利亚到主的殿里去烧香。众百姓都在外面祷告。
