弟兄们，论到时候、日期，不用写信给你们，因为你们自己明明晓得，主的日子来到，好像夜间的贼一样。人正说“平安稳妥”的时候，灾祸忽然临到他们，如同产难临到怀胎的妇人一样，他们绝不能逃脱。

然后要对我的灵魂说：灵魂哪，你有许多财物积存，可作多年的费用，只管安安逸逸地吃喝快乐吧！’神却对他说：‘无知的人哪，今夜必要你的灵魂；你所预备的要归谁呢？’

“耶和华你的神领你进他向你列祖亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓应许给你的地。那里有城邑，又大又美，非你所建造的；有房屋，装满各样美物，非你所装满的；有凿成的水井，非你所凿成的；还有葡萄园、橄榄园，非你所栽种的；你吃了而且饱足。那时你要谨慎，免得你忘记将你从埃及地、为奴之家领出来的耶和华。

当那日，主万军之耶和华叫人哭泣哀号，头上光秃，身披麻布。谁知，人倒欢喜快乐，宰牛杀羊，吃肉喝酒，说：“我们吃喝吧！因为明天要死了。”万军之耶和华亲自默示我说：“这罪孽直到你们死，断不得赦免！这是主万军之耶和华说的。”

亚比该到拿八那里，见他在家里设摆筵席，如同王的筵席；拿八快乐大醉。亚比该无论大小事都没有告诉他，就等到次日早晨。到了早晨，拿八醒了酒，他的妻将这些事都告诉他，他就魂不附体，身僵如石头一般。过了十天，耶和华击打拿八，他就死了。

我心慌张，惊恐威吓我。我所羡慕的黄昏，变为我的战兢。

恐怕你吃得饱足，建造美好的房屋居住，你的牛羊加多，你的金银增添，并你所有的全都加增，你就心高气傲，忘记耶和华你的神，就是将你从埃及地为奴之家领出来的，

“有一个财主穿着紫色袍和细麻布衣服，天天奢华宴乐。又有一个讨饭的，名叫拉撒路，浑身生疮，被人放在财主门口，要得财主桌子上掉下来的零碎充饥，并且狗来舔他的疮。后来那讨饭的死了，被天使带去放在亚伯拉罕的怀里。财主也死了，并且埋葬了。他在阴间受痛苦，举目远远地望见亚伯拉罕，又望见拉撒路在他怀里，

他们的家宅平安无惧；神的杖也不加在他们身上。他们的公牛孳生而不断绝；母牛下犊而不掉胎。他们打发小孩子出去，多如羊群；他们的儿女踊跃跳舞。他们随着琴鼓歌唱，又因箫声欢喜。他们度日诸事亨通，转眼下入阴间。
