弟兄们，论到时候和日期，不用写什么给你们了。因为你们自己清楚知道，主的日子来到，就像夜间的贼来到一样。人正在说平安稳妥的时候，毁灭性的灾祸就突然临到他们，好像生产的痛苦临到怀胎的妇人一样，他们绝不能逃脱。

然后，我要对我的灵魂说：灵魂啊，你拥有许多好东西，足够多年享用，只管安安逸逸地吃喝快乐吧！’神却对他说：‘无知的人哪，今天晚上，你的灵魂必被取去，你所预备的要归给谁呢？’

“耶和华你的神领你进入他向你列祖亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓应许给你的地；那里有不是你建造的，又高大又美丽的城市，有装满各样美物的房子，不是你装满的；有凿成的水池，不是你凿成的；还有葡萄园和橄榄园，不是你栽种的；你可以吃，并且吃得饱足。那时，你要谨慎，免得你忘记了耶和华，就是把你从埃及地，从为奴之家领出来的那一位。

到那日，主万军之耶和华叫人哭泣哀号，剃光头发，穿上麻布。看哪！人还是欢喜快乐，宰牛杀羊，吃肉喝酒，说：“我们吃喝吧！因为明天我们就要死了。”万军之耶和华亲自启示我说：“直到你们死的时候，这罪孽也不得赦免。”这是主万军之耶和华说的。

亚比该到了拿八那里，他正在家中摆设筵席，好像帝王的筵席一样。拿八心里畅快，喝得烂醉如泥，所以无论大事小事亚比该都没有告诉他，直到第二天早晨。到了早晨，拿八酒醒了，他的妻子才把这些事告诉他，他就吓得魂不附体，立刻中风瘫痪了。大约过了十天，耶和华击打拿八，他就死了。

我的心迷糊，惊恐威吓着我；我所爱慕的黄昏，竟使我战兢。

恐怕你吃饱了，建造美好的房屋居住，你的牛羊加多，你的金银增添，你所有的一切都增加了，那时，你就心高气傲，忘记了耶和华你的神，就是把你从埃及地，从为奴之家领出来的那一位。

“有一个财主，身穿紫色袍和细麻衣，天天奢华宴乐。又有一个乞丐，名叫拉撒路，满身是疮，被人放在财主门口，想得财主桌子上掉下来的零碎充饥；并且有狗来舔他的疮。后来乞丐死了，被天使送到亚伯拉罕的怀里。那财主也死了，并且埋葬了。财主在阴间受痛苦，举目远远望见亚伯拉罕，和他怀里的拉撒路，

他们的家宅平安无惧，神的刑杖也不加在他们身上。他们的公牛交配而不落种，他们的母牛下犊而不掉胎，他们叫小孩子出去多如羊群，他们的年轻人四处跳跃；他们跟着琴鼓高歌，又因着箫的声音欢乐。他们幸福度过他们的日子，一剎那间下阴间，毫无病痛。
