耶穌吩咐他不要告訴任何人，說：「只要去把自己給祭司看，並且為了你的潔淨，照著摩西所吩咐的去獻上祭物，好對他們做見證。」

耶穌回答他，說：「現在你就答應吧，因為我們如此成全一切的義，是合宜的。」於是約翰答應了他。

但人如果在黑夜裡行走，就會絆倒，因為在他裡面沒有光。」

耶穌伸出手來摸他，說：「我願意，你潔淨了吧！」那人的痲瘋病立刻就被潔淨了。耶穌對他說：「你要注意，不可告訴任何人，只要去把自己給祭司看，並且獻上摩西所吩咐的祭物，好對他們做見證。」

那時，他們還沒有呼求，我就回應；他們還在說話，我就垂聽。

他的母親對僕人們說：「他吩咐你們什麼，你們就做什麼。」

耶穌對他說：「你回去吧，你的兒子活了！」那人相信耶穌的話，就回去了。他正下去的時候，他的奴僕們迎著他來，告訴他孩子活了。他就問孩子好轉的時間，他們說：「昨天下午一點，燒就退了。」這位父親就知道，那正是耶穌說「你的兒子活了」的時間。於是他自己和全家人都信了。

然後對他說：「到西羅亞池去洗一洗。」——「西羅亞」翻譯出來就是「奉差派」。他去洗了，回來就能看見了。
