For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?

Do not be afraid when a person becomes rich, When the splendor of his house is increased;For when he dies, he will take nothing with him; His wealth will not descend after him.Though while he lives he congratulates himself— And though people praise you when you do well for yourself—He will go to the generation of his fathers; They will never see the light.

Lying back on Jesus’ chest was one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.

For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so also the rich person, in the midst of his pursuits, will die out.

Those who trust in their wealth And boast in the abundance of their riches?No one can by any means redeem another Or give God a ransom for him—For the redemption of his soul is priceless, And he should cease imagining forever—That he might live on eternally, That he might not undergo decay.For he sees that even wise people die; The foolish and the stupid alike perish And leave their wealth to others.Their inner thought is that their houses are forever And their dwelling places to all generations; They have named their lands after their own names.But man in his splendor will not endure; He is like the animals that perish.

“ See that you do not look down on one of these little ones; for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

They spend their days in prosperity, And suddenly they go down to Sheol.

Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to provide service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?

For He will give His angels orders concerning you, To protect you in all your ways.On their hands they will lift you up, So that you do not strike your foot against a stone.

So then, I have seen the wicked buried, those who used to go in and out of the holy place, and they are soon forgotten in the city where they did such things. This too is futility.

‘ What right do you have here, And whom do you have here, That you have cut out a tomb for yourself here, You who cut out a tomb on the height, You who carve a resting place for yourself in the rock?

You indeed put them on slippery ground; You dropped them into ruin.How they are destroyed in a moment! They are utterly swept away by sudden terrors!Like a dream when one awakes, Lord, when stirred, You will despise their image.

The righteous person perishes, and no one takes it to heart; And devout people are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous person is taken away from evil,He enters into peace; They rest in their beds, Each one who walked in his upright way.

And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet blast, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

All the kings of the nations lie in glory, Each in his own tomb.

But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your soul is demanded of you; and as for all that you have prepared, who will own it now?’

When he came in, he ate and drank; and he said,“ See now to this cursed woman and bury her, for she is a king’s daughter.”So they went to bury her, but they found nothing of her except the skull, the feet, and the palms of her hands.

Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, so that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,

For the wicked person is spared a day of disaster; They are led away from a day of fury.Who confronts him with his actions, And who repays him for what he has done?When he is carried to the grave, People will keep watch over his tomb.

and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the weeds are the sons of the evil one;and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are angels.So just as the weeds are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the end of the age.The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness,and they will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.Then the righteous will shine forth like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. The one who has ears, let him hear.

And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven;
