At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores

A man named Lazarus was placed at his gate. Lazarus was a beggar. His body was covered with sores.

A man who was lame from birth was being carried there. He was placed each day at the temple gate called Beautiful, so that he could beg from those entering the temple.

Let the brother of humble circumstances boast in his exaltation,

So Satan left the LORD’s presence and infected Job with terrible boils from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.

He longed to be filled with what fell from the rich man’s table, but instead the dogs would come and lick his sores.

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Didn’t God choose the poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him?

From the sole of the foot even to the head, no spot is uninjured— wounds, welts, and festering sores not cleansed, bandaged, or soothed with oil.

One who is righteous has many adversities, but the LORD rescues him from them all.

He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the trash heap. He seats them with noblemen and gives them a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s; he has set the world on them.

As he approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road begging.Hearing a crowd passing by, he inquired what was happening.“ Jesus of Nazareth is passing by,” they told him.So he called out,“ Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”Then those in front told him to keep quiet, but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”Jesus stopped and commanded that he be brought to him. When he came closer, he asked him,“ What do you want me to do for you?”“ Lord,” he said,“ I want to see.”“ Receive your sight.” Jesus told him.“ Your faith has saved you.”Instantly he could see, and he began to follow him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? So why has the healing of my dear people not come about?
