随从肉体的人，以肉体的事为念；随从圣灵的人，以圣灵的事为念。以肉体为念就是死，以圣灵为念就是生命、平安；因为以肉体为念就是与神为仇，既不服从神的律法，也的确不能够服从；属肉体的人不能得神的喜悦。

如果你们认为事奉耶和华不好，那么今日你们就可以选择你们所要事奉的：是你们列祖在大河那边事奉的神呢，还是你们现在所住亚摩利人之地的神呢？至于我和我家，我们必事奉耶和华。”

不站在我这一边的就是反对我的；不跟从一起收聚的就是分散的。

我告诉你们，要用不义的钱财（“钱财”亚兰文是“玛门”）去结交朋友，好叫钱财无用的时候，他们可以接你们到永恒的帐棚里。

但耶稣说：“撒但，走开！经上记着：‘当拜主你的神，单要事奉他。’”

难道你们不知道你们自愿作奴仆去顺从人，顺从谁就作谁的奴仆，或作罪的奴仆以致于死，或作顺从的奴仆以致于义吗？感谢神，你们虽然作过罪的奴仆，现在却从心里顺从了传授给你们的教义的规范。你们既然从罪里得了释放，就作了义的奴仆。因为你们肉体的弱点，我就按一般人的话来说，你们从前怎样把你们的肢体献给不洁和不法作奴仆，以致于不法，现在也要照样把你们的肢体献给义作奴仆，以致于成圣。你们作罪的奴仆的时候，就不受义的约束。那么，你们在现今以为羞耻的事上，当时得了什么呢？那些事的结局就是死。现在你们既然从罪里得了释放，作了神的奴仆，就有成圣的果子，那结局就是永生。

耶稣说：“不要禁止他，因为不反对你们的，就是赞成你们的。”
