你们这些对主不忠的人啊，难道还不明白与世俗为友就是与上帝为敌吗？所以，凡是与世俗为友的，都是上帝的敌人。

随从罪恶本性的人顾念罪恶本性的事，但随从圣灵的人顾念圣灵的事。顾念罪恶本性的人结局是死亡，但顾念圣灵的人却有生命和平安。因为顾念罪恶本性的人与上帝为敌，不服从上帝的律法，也无力服从。所以受罪恶本性控制的人无法令上帝喜悦。

如果你们不愿意事奉耶和华，今天就选择你们的神明吧，或大河那边你们祖先事奉的神明，或你们这里亚摩利人的神明。至于我和我全家，我们必事奉耶和华。”

谁不与我为友，就是与我为敌；谁不和我一起收聚，就是故意拆散。

“我告诉你们，要善用今世的钱财，广结朋友。这样，当钱财不管用时，他们会接你们到永远的居所。

耶稣说：“撒旦，走开！圣经上说，‘要敬拜主——你的上帝，单单事奉祂。’”

你们难道不明白吗？你们献身给谁、服从谁，就是谁的奴隶。做罪的奴隶，结局是死亡；做上帝的奴仆，就被称为义人。感谢上帝！你们从前虽然做过罪的奴隶，现在却衷心服从了所传给你们的教导，从罪中得到释放，成为义的奴仆。因为你们有人性的软弱，我就从人的立场向你们解释。以前你们将身体献给肮脏不法的事，任其奴役，助长不法。现在你们要将身体奉献给义，为义效劳，成为圣洁的人。你们做罪的奴隶时，不受义的约束，做了现在想起来也觉得羞耻的事，得到了什么益处呢？那些事只能导致死亡！但现在你们已从罪中得到释放，做了上帝的奴仆，这样会使你们圣洁，最终得到永生。

耶稣却对他说：“你不要阻止他，因为不反对你们的，就是支持你们的。”
