惟此子宿娼狎妓、盡耗父業、既至、則為之宰肥犢也、

而此子狎妓耗財、返則宰肥犢以享之！」

But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’

愛慕智慧的使父親歡欣，結交妓女的必耗盡錢財。

小兒子對父親說，『父親，請你把我應得的家產分給我。』父親就把財產分給了兩個兒子。「沒過幾天，小兒子帶著他所有的財物出門遠遊去了。他終日在外花天酒地，揮金如土，

摩西懇求他的上帝耶和華說：「耶和華啊，你為什麼要向你的子民發烈怒呢？這些子民是你親自用神蹟和大能從埃及領出來的。

法利賽人站在那裡自言自語地禱告說，『上帝啊！我感謝你，因為我不像別人那樣勒索、不義、通姦，也不像這稅吏。

耶和華對摩西說：「你快下山吧，你的百姓，就是你從埃及領出來的那些人已經敗壞了。

可是你弟弟是死而復活、失而復得的，所以我們應該歡喜快樂。』」

「父親卻對奴僕說，『趕快拿最好的袍子來給他穿上，給他戴上戒指，穿上鞋，把那隻肥牛犢牽來宰了，讓我們一同歡宴慶祝！
