法利賽人看見了，就質問耶穌的門徒：「你們的老師為何跟稅吏和罪人一起吃飯？」

百姓見狀，都埋怨說：「祂怎麼到一個罪人家裡作客？」

請耶穌的法利賽人看在眼裡，心想：「如果這人真的是先知，就該知道摸祂的是誰，是個什麼樣的女人，她是個罪人。」

人子來了，又吃又喝，你們就說，『看啊，祂是個貪吃好酒之徒，與稅吏和罪人爲友！』

「你竟然去未受割禮之人的家，還和他們一同吃飯！」

法利賽人和律法教師就向耶穌的門徒抱怨說：「你們為什麼跟稅吏和罪人一起吃喝呢？」

從雅各那裡來的人還沒有抵達之前，彼得和外族的信徒一起吃飯。但那些人抵達以後，彼得因為怕那些堅持行割禮的猶太人批評，就與外族的信徒分開了。

我以前曾經寫信吩咐你們，不可與淫亂的人交往。我的意思並不是指世上所有淫亂、貪婪、欺詐與祭拜偶像的人。那樣的話，你們將不得不離開這個世界。我的意思是，若有人自稱是信徒，卻淫亂、貪婪、祭拜偶像、毀謗、酗酒、欺詐，你們不要和他們交往，甚至不要和他們一起吃飯。

「他對父親說，『你看，我伺候你這麼多年，從來沒有違背過你的命令，可是你沒有給過我一隻羊羔，讓我和朋友一同歡宴。但你這個兒子在娼妓身上耗盡家財，一回來，你倒為他宰了肥牛犢！』
