The younger son told his father,‘ I want my share of your estate now before you die.’ So his father agreed to divide his wealth between his sons.

小兒子對父親說：『父親，請你把我應得的家業分給我。』他父親就把產業分給他們。

季謂父曰：「父、請以兒應承之產、提前見畀、」父乃為二子析產。

The younger one said to his father,‘ Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.

When the man divides his inheritance, he may not give the larger inheritance to his younger son, the son of the wife he loves, as if he were the firstborn son.He must recognize the rights of his oldest son, the son of the wife he does not love, by giving him a double portion. He is the first son of his father’s virility, and the rights of the firstborn belong to him.

Yet when this son of yours comes back after squandering your money on prostitutes, you celebrate by killing the fattened calf!’

For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.”

By the power of your hand, O Lord, destroy those who look to this world for their reward. But satisfy the hunger of your treasured ones. May their children have plenty, leaving an inheritance for their descendants.

Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!
