When pride comes, then comes shame, but with humility comes wisdom.

The wise will inherit glory, but shame will be the promotion of fools.

So Haman came in. The king said to him,“ What shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor?” Now Haman said in his heart,“ Who would the king delight to honor more than myself?”Haman said to the king,“ For the man whom the king delights to honor,let royal clothing be brought which the king uses to wear, and the horse that the king rides on, and on the head of which a royal crown is set.Let the clothing and the horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that they may array the man whom the king delights to honor with them, and have him ride on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him,‘ Thus it shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!’”Then the king said to Haman,“ Hurry and take the clothing and the horse, as you have said, and do this for Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king’s gate. Let nothing fail of all that you have spoken.”Then Haman took the clothing and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and had him ride through the city square, and proclaimed before him,“ Thus it shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!”Mordecai came back to the king’s gate, but Haman hurried to his house, mourning and having his head covered.

“ Son of man, tell the prince of Tyre,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Because your heart is lifted up, and you have said,‘ I am a god, I sit in the seat of God, in the middle of the seas;’ yet you are man, and not God, though you set your heart as the heart of God—behold, you are wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that is hidden from you;by your wisdom and by your understanding you have gotten yourself riches, and have gotten gold and silver into your treasures;by your great wisdom and by your trading you have increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches—”“‘ therefore the Lord Yahweh says:“ Because you have set your heart as the heart of God,therefore, behold, I will bring strangers on you, the terrible of the nations. They will draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom. They will defile your brightness.They will bring you down to the pit. You will die the death of those who are slain in the heart of the seas.Will you yet say before him who kills you,‘ I am God’? But you are man, and not God, in the hand of him who wounds you.You will die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers; for I have spoken it,” says the Lord Yahweh.’”

The king spoke and said,“ Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?”While the word was in the king’s mouth, a voice came from the sky, saying,“ O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken:‘ The kingdom has departed from you.You shall be driven from men; and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field. You shall be made to eat grass as oxen. Seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will.’”This was fulfilled the same hour on Nebuchadnezzar. He was driven from men, and ate grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the sky, until his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored him who lives forever; for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom from generation to generation.
