主人請爾讓位、則赧然而就末座矣。

The one who invited both of you may come and say to you,‘ Give your place to this man,’ and then in humiliation, you will proceed to take the lowest place.

and the one who invited you both will come and say to you,‘ Give your place to this person,’ and then in disgrace you will proceed to occupy the last place.

and he that bade thee and him shall come and say to thee, Give this man place; and then thou shalt begin with shame to take the lowest place.

So Haman came in, and the king asked him,“ What shall be done for the man whom the king delights to honor?” Now Haman thought in his heart,“ Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?”And Haman answered the king,“ For the man whom the king delights to honor,let a royal robe be brought which the king has worn, and a horse on which the king has ridden, which has a royal crest placed on its head.Then let this robe and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that he may array the man whom the king delights to honor. Then parade him on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him:‘ Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!’”Then the king said to Haman,“ Hurry, take the robe and the horse, as you have suggested, and do so for Mordecai the Jew who sits within the king’s gate! Leave nothing undone of all that you have spoken.”So Haman took the robe and the horse, arrayed Mordecai and led him on horseback through the city square, and proclaimed before him,“ Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!”Afterward Mordecai went back to the king’s gate. But Haman hurried to his house, mourning and with his head covered.

“ Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre,‘ Thus says the Lord God:“ Because your heart is lifted up, And you say,‘ I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods, In the midst of the seas,’ Yet you are a man, and not a god, Though you set your heart as the heart of a god( Behold, you are wiser than Daniel! There is no secret that can be hidden from you!With your wisdom and your understanding You have gained riches for yourself, And gathered gold and silver into your treasuries;By your great wisdom in trade you have increased your riches, And your heart is lifted up because of your riches),”‘ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ Because you have set your heart as the heart of a god,Behold, therefore, I will bring strangers against you, The most terrible of the nations; And they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, And defile your splendor.They shall throw you down into the Pit, And you shall die the death of the slain In the midst of the seas.“ Will you still say before him who slays you,‘ I am a god’? But you shall be a man, and not a god, In the hand of him who slays you.You shall die the death of the uncircumcised By the hand of aliens; For I have spoken,” says the Lord God.’”

The king spoke, saying,“ Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?”While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice fell from heaven:“ King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you!And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.”That very hour the word was fulfilled concerning Nebuchadnezzar; he was driven from men and ate grass like oxen; his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws.And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever: For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom is from generation to generation.
