The host will come and say,‘ Give this person your seat.’ Then you will be embarrassed, and you will have to take whatever seat is left at the foot of the table!

and the one who invited you both will come and say to you,‘ Give your place to this person,’ and then in disgrace you will proceed to occupy the last place.

and he who invited you and him come and say to you,‘ Give place to this man,’ and then you begin with shame to take the lowest place.

and he that bade thee and him shall come and say to thee, Give this man place; and then thou shalt begin with shame to take the lowest place.

[ When] pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly[ is] wisdom.

Pride[ goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself?And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour,Let the royal apparel be brought which the king[ useth] to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that they may array the man[ withal] whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.Then the king said to Haman, Make haste,[ and] take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king’s gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.And Mordecai came again to the king’s gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered.

Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart[ is] lifted up, and thou hast said, I[ am] a God, I sit[ in] the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou[ art] a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:Behold, thou[ art] wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:By thy great wisdom[ and] by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God;Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness.They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of[ them that are] slain in the midst of the seas.Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I[ am] God? but thou[ shalt be] a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken[ it], saith the Lord GOD.

The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?While the word[ was] in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven,[ saying], O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling[ shall be] with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’[ feathers], and his nails like birds’[ claws].And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion[ is] an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom[ is] from generation to generation:
