哈曼進來了，王問他：「王願意賜予尊榮的人，應該怎麼對待他呢？」哈曼心裡說：「王願意賜予尊榮的人，除我以外，還會有誰呢？」哈曼就對王說：「王願意賜予尊榮的人，應該讓人把王所穿的王袍和王所騎的馬，就是頭戴御冠的馬帶來，把衣袍和馬交在王的一個貴族首領的手中，給王願意賜予尊榮的人穿上衣袍，使他騎上馬，然後領他走遍城市廣場，並在他前面宣告：『王願意賜予尊榮的人，就要這樣對待他！』」於是王對哈曼說：「趕快！把衣袍和馬帶來，照著你所說的那樣對待坐在御門那裡的猶太人末迪凱；凡你所說的，一樣也不可缺少。」哈曼就把衣袍和馬帶來，給末迪凱穿上衣袍，使他騎上馬，然後領他走遍城市廣場，並在他前面宣告：「王願意賜予尊榮的人，就要這樣對待他！」末迪凱回到御門那裡；哈曼卻心中悲哀，蒙著頭急促回到家。

開口說：「這大巴比倫，難道不是我以自己的權能力量建為國都，為要顯出我威嚴的尊榮嗎？」這話還在王的口中，就有聲音從天上降下，說：「尼布甲尼撒王啊，這是對你的宣告：你的國權從你那裡被移除了！你必從人間被趕出，你的住處必與田野的走獸在一起；你必像牛那樣吃牧草，讓七個時期從你流過，直到你明白：至高者在人的國中掌權，他願意把國賜給誰就賜給誰。」這話立刻就應驗在尼布甲尼撒身上；他從人間被趕出，像牛那樣吃牧草，身體被天上的露水濕透，直到他的頭髮長得像鷹的羽毛，指甲長得像鳥的爪子。那些日子結束了，我尼布甲尼撒舉目望天，我的理智回到我身上。我就頌讚至高者，稱讚、尊崇永遠活著的那一位——他的權柄是永遠的權柄，他的國度世世代代長存！
