主人請爾讓位、則赧然而就末座矣。

傲慢带来羞辱，谦卑者有智慧。

骄横是沦亡的前奏，狂傲是败落的预兆。

智者得尊荣，愚人受羞辱。

哈曼进来后，王问他：“王愿意赏识一个人，该怎么做呢？”哈曼心想：“王愿意赏识的人不是我是谁呢？”于是，他就对王说：“王若愿意赏识一个人，可以拿来王穿过的袍子，牵来王骑过的戴冠的御马，交给王最尊贵的一位大臣，给王所愿意赏识的人穿上，让他骑着马在城中的广场上游行，并派人在他前面宣告，‘王愿意赏识谁，就会这样待他。’”王对哈曼说：“快去照你说的，把王袍和御马赐给在宫门供职的犹太人末底改。你所说的一样也不可少。”于是，哈曼将袍子给末底改穿上，让他骑着马在城中的广场上游行，并在他前面宣告：“王愿意赏识谁，就会这样待他。”之后，末底改回到宫门那里，哈曼却悲伤地蒙着头匆匆回家去了。

“人子啊，你去告诉泰尔王，主耶和华这样说，“‘你心里高傲，说，我是神，我坐在海中神的宝座上。你虽然自以为像神，但事实上你不是神，不过是人。看啊，你比但以理更有智慧，什么秘密都瞒不过你。你凭智慧和头脑发了财，金银装满了你的库房。你靠高超的经商本领使财富大增，因而变得心高气傲。因此，主耶和华说，因为你自以为像神，我要使列国中最残暴的外族人来攻打你，拔刀毁坏你凭智慧得来的美物，玷污你的荣美，使你坠入坟墓，你必惨死在大海中。在杀戮你的人面前，你还能自称为神吗？在杀你的人手中，你不过是人，不是神。你要像未受割礼的人那样死在外族人手中。’这是主耶和华说的。”

说：“这宏伟的巴比伦岂不是我用大能建立为京都，以显我的威严和荣耀吗？”话未说完，天上就有声音说：“尼布甲尼撒王啊，你听着，你已失去王权。你必从人群中被赶走，与野兽同住，像牛一样吃草，达七年之久，直到你知道至高者主宰世上万国，祂要把国赐给谁就赐给谁。”这话立刻应验在尼布甲尼撒身上。他从人群中被赶走，像牛一样吃草，身体被天上的露水浸湿，直到他的头发长如鹰毛，指甲长如鸟爪。“七年后，我尼布甲尼撒举目望天，恢复了神智，便称颂至高者，赞美、尊崇永活者。“祂的统治永无穷尽，祂的国度直到万代。
