We desire that each one of you may show the same diligence to the fullness of hope even to the end,

For no one can lay any other foundation than that which has been laid, which is Jesus Christ.But if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or stubble,each man’s work will be revealed. For the Day will declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself will test what sort of work each man’s work is.If any man’s work remains which he built on it, he will receive a reward.

For concerning those who were once enlightened and tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit,and tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,and then fell away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify the Son of God for themselves again, and put him to open shame.For the land which has drunk the rain that comes often on it and produces a crop suitable for them for whose sake it is also tilled, receives blessing from God;but if it bears thorns and thistles, it is rejected and near being cursed, whose end is to be burned.

Now this man obtained a field with the reward for his wickedness, and falling headlong, his body burst open, and all his intestines gushed out.It became known to everyone who lived in Jerusalem that in their language that field was called‘ Akeldama,’ that is,‘ The field of blood.’

But the righteous will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.”

Then Judas, who betrayed him, when he saw that Jesus was condemned, felt remorse, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,saying,“ I have sinned in that I betrayed innocent blood.” But they said,“ What is that to us? You see to it.”He threw down the pieces of silver in the sanctuary, and departed. He went away and hanged himself.The chief priests took the pieces of silver, and said,“ It’s not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood.”They took counsel, and bought the potter’s field with them, to bury strangers in.Therefore that field was called“ The Field of Blood” to this day.

The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell— and great was its fall.”
