“ Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?

Joshua said to the people,“ You can’t serve Yahweh, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God. So therefore whoever of you who doesn’t renounce all that he has, he can’t be my disciple.

Jesus said to him,“ The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”

Then Paul answered,“ What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

For most certainly, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we are to suffer affliction, even as it happened, and you know.For this cause I also, when I couldn’t stand it any longer, sent that I might know your faith, for fear that by any means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor would have been in vain.

But Jesus answered,“ You don’t know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to him,“ We are able.”He said to them,“ You will indeed drink my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with, but to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it is for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”

I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you,knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.

They said,“ Come, let’s build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top reaches to the sky, and let’s make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad on the surface of the whole earth.”Yahweh came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built.Yahweh said,“ Behold, they are one people, and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do. Now nothing will be withheld from them, which they intend to do.Come, let’s go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.”So Yahweh scattered them abroad from there on the surface of all the earth. They stopped building the city.Therefore its name was called Babel, because there Yahweh confused the language of all the earth. From there, Yahweh scattered them abroad on the surface of all the earth.
