爾中孰有欲建一塔、而不預籌所需之費、以觀厥成者乎？

“ Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?

“ Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you sit down first and figure out how much it will cost? Then you will see whether you have enough money to finish it.

For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?

你要在外頭預備工料，在田間辦理整齊，然後建造房屋。

約書亞對百姓說：「你們不能事奉耶和華；因為他是聖潔的神，是忌邪的神，必不赦免你們的過犯罪惡。你們若離棄耶和華去事奉外邦神，耶和華在降福之後，必轉而降禍與你們，把你們滅絕。」百姓回答約書亞說：「不然，我們定要事奉耶和華。」約書亞對百姓說：「你們選定耶和華，要事奉他，你們自己作見證吧！」他們說：「我們願意作見證。」約書亞說：「你們現在要除掉你們中間的外邦神，專心歸向耶和華－以色列的神。」百姓回答約書亞說：「我們必事奉耶和華－我們的神，聽從他的話。」

並且你們要為我的名被眾人恨惡。惟有忍耐到底的必然得救。

這樣，你們無論甚麼人，若不撇下一切所有的，就不能作我的門徒。」

耶穌說：「狐狸有洞，天空的飛鳥有窩，人子卻沒有枕頭的地方。」

保羅說：「你們為甚麼這樣痛哭，使我心碎呢？我為主耶穌的名，不但被人捆綁，就是死在耶路撒冷也是願意的。」

我們在你們那裏的時候，預先告訴你們，我們必受患難，以後果然應驗了，你們也知道。為此，我既不能再忍，就打發人去，要曉得你們的信心如何，恐怕那誘惑人的到底誘惑了你們，叫我們的勞苦歸於徒然。

耶穌回答說：「你們不知道所求的是甚麼；我將要喝的杯，你們能喝嗎？」他們說：「我們能。」耶穌說：「我所喝的杯，你們必要喝；只是坐在我的左右，不是我可以賜的，乃是我父為誰預備的，就賜給誰。」

我以為應當趁我還在這帳棚的時候提醒你們，激發你們；因為知道我脫離這帳棚的時候快到了，正如我們主耶穌基督所指示我的。

他們說：「來吧！我們要建造一座城和一座塔，塔頂通天，為要傳揚我們的名，免得我們分散在全地上。」耶和華降臨，要看看世人所建造的城和塔。耶和華說：「看哪，他們成為一樣的人民，都是一樣的言語，如今既做起這事來，以後他們所要做的事就沒有不成就的了。我們下去，在那裏變亂他們的口音，使他們的言語彼此不通。」於是耶和華使他們從那裏分散在全地上；他們就停工，不造那城了。因為耶和華在那裏變亂天下人的言語，使眾人分散在全地上，所以那城名叫巴別。
