“ Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?

“ Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you sit down first and figure out how much it will cost? Then you will see whether you have enough money to finish it.

For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?

“ But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?

你要在外头预备工料，在田间办理整齐，然后建造房屋。

约书亚对百姓说：“你们不能侍奉耶和华；因为他是圣洁的神，是忌邪的神，必不赦免你们的过犯罪恶。你们若离弃耶和华去侍奉外邦神，耶和华在降福之后，必转而降祸与你们，把你们灭绝。”百姓回答约书亚说：“不然，我们定要侍奉耶和华。”约书亚对百姓说：“你们选定耶和华，要侍奉他，你们自己作见证吧！”他们说：“我们愿意作见证。”约书亚说：“你们现在要除掉你们中间的外邦神，专心归向耶和华以色列的神。”百姓回答约书亚说：“我们必侍奉耶和华我们的神，听从他的话。”

并且你们要为我的名被众人恨恶。惟有忍耐到底的必然得救。

这样，你们无论什么人，若不撇下一切所有的，就不能作我的门徒。”

耶稣说：“狐狸有洞，天空的飞鸟有窝，人子却没有枕头的地方。”

保罗说：“你们为什么这样痛哭，使我心碎呢？我为主耶稣的名，不但被人捆绑，就是死在耶路撒冷也是愿意的。”

我们在你们那里的时候，预先告诉你们，我们必受患难，以后果然应验了，你们也知道。为此，我既不能再忍，就打发人去，要晓得你们的信心如何，恐怕那诱惑人的到底诱惑了你们，叫我们的劳苦归于徒然。

耶稣回答说：“你们不知道所求的是什么；我将要喝的杯，你们能喝吗？”他们说：“我们能。”耶稣说：“我所喝的杯，你们必要喝；只是坐在我的左右，不是我可以赐的，乃是我父为谁预备的，就赐给谁。”

我以为应当趁我还在这帐棚的时候提醒你们，激发你们；因为知道我脱离这帐棚的时候快到了，正如我们主耶稣基督所指示我的。

他们说：“来吧！我们要建造一座城和一座塔，塔顶通天，为要传扬我们的名，免得我们分散在全地上。”耶和华降临，要看看世人所建造的城和塔。耶和华说：“看哪，他们成为一样的人民，都是一样的言语，如今既做起这事来，以后他们所要做的事就没有不成就的了。我们下去，在那里变乱他们的口音，使他们的言语彼此不通。”于是耶和华使他们从那里分散在全地上；他们就停工，不造那城了。因为耶和华在那里变乱天下人的言语，使众人分散在全地上，所以那城名叫巴别。
