你要在外面预备好你的工作，在田间为自己准备妥当，然后建造你的房屋。

约书亚对众民说：“你们不能事奉耶和华，因为他是圣洁的神；他是嫉妒的神，他必不赦免你们的过犯和罪恶。如果你们离弃耶和华，去事奉外族人的神，那么在耶和华赐福给你们之后，他必转而降祸与你们，把你们消灭。”众民对约书亚说：“不，我们必定事奉耶和华。”约书亚对众民说：“你们选择了耶和华，要事奉他，你们为自己作证吧。”他们说：“我们愿意作证。”约书亚说：“现在你们要除掉在你们中间外族人的神，一心归向耶和华以色列的神。”众民对约书亚说：“我们必事奉耶和华我们的神，必听从他的话。”

你们为我的名，要被众人恨恶，然而坚忍到底的必然得救。

这样，你们中间不论谁，如果不撇下一切所有的，就不能作我的门徒。

耶稣回答：“狐狸有洞，天空的飞鸟有窝，但人子却没有栖身﹙“栖身”原文作“枕头”。﹚的地方。”

保罗却回答：“你们为什么哭，使我心碎呢？我为主耶稣的名，不但被捆绑，就算死在耶路撒冷我也都准备好了。”

我们在你们那里的时候，早已对你们说过，我们将会遭受患难。后来应验了，这是你们知道的。因此，我既然不能再忍下去，就派人去打听你们的信心怎样；恐怕那试探人的诱惑了你们，以致我们的劳苦白费了。

耶稣回答：“你们不知道你们求的是什么。我将要喝的杯，你们能喝吗？”他们说：“能。”他对他们说：“我的杯你们固然要喝，只是坐在我的左右，不是我可以赐的；我父预备赐给谁，就赐给谁。”

趁着我还在世上（“在世上”原文作“在这帐棚”）的时候，我认为应当提醒你们，使你们常常警醒，因为我知道我离世（“离世”原文作“离开这帐棚”）的时候快到了，正如我们的主耶稣基督清楚指示我的。

他们又说：“来，我们建一座城，造一座塔，塔顶要通天。我们要为自己立名，免得分散在全地上。”耶和华下来，要看看世人建造的城和塔。耶和华说：“看哪，他们同是一个民族，有一样的语言，他们一开始就作这事，以后他们所要作的一切，就没有可以拦阻他们的了。来，我们下去，在那里混乱他们的语言，使他们听不懂对方的话。”于是，耶和华把他们从那里分散到全地上，他们就停止建造那城。因此，那城的名就叫巴别，因为耶和华在那里混乱了全地所有的人的语言，又从那里把他们分散在全地上。
